This piece was used to illustrate one of the chapters of Moby Dick Big Read, which was co-curated by writer and journalist Philip Hoare and Artist Angela Cockayne. Moby Dick Big Read is a twenty-first century digital version of Herman Melville’s prophetic masterpiece with contributions by some of the worlds leading artists, actors and authors. The project, freely available on the web, from 16/09/12, released one chapter and artwork each day. Silk Fish (Having a Whale of a Time) accompanied chapter 50 – ‘Ahab’s Boat and Crew’ – Read by: Andrew Delbanco.
