In a Spin

IN A SPIN, 2010 | pencil on paper | 220 x 300 mm

Like dust, we settle into sleep and it is in this undisturbed place the collective particles of our thoughts and memories combine with subliminal messages to form dreams.

When disturbed this resulting dream dust becomes unsettled, and the spurious visions either dissolve or rise, forming tornado-like columns. It is in this place ideas are spun and occasionally thrown out into the real world, which, as with dreams, will either dissolve or solidify. Drawing gives gravity to these ideas. Tornados often spin in and out of my dreams.
