HERTHA AYRTON (Physicist, inventor, suffragette) 1854 – 1923, 2019 | household dust. Acrylic, pencil | 133 x 94 x 83 mm
I serendipitously discovered Hertha Ayrton had come to Margate, whilst researching Margaret Bryan for my caves residency. Her visit in 1901 was important in her research into the causes of ripple marks in sand. Ayrton was a trailblazer for women in science.
