Medium: household dust, human hair, miniature book
Books are not really solid objects at all – we read our way through them. Of course some are much harder to get through than others but whatever the book, it will undoubtedly have a transforming affect on the reader. This small piece in which a figure is passing through a book, assisted by another, seems to pay homage to scholastic pursuits and to the teacher/student relationship. This book however, cannot be read as it is bound with fine threads of golden hair (symbolizing youth), which also weave in and out of the book like electromagnetic waves. The only clue to its contents is in its title, ‘Gold Dust’. The two figures composed of household dust are perhaps seeking elevation from their lowly position.
